"I'm a little confused here. I have a Canon Vixia HF100 that records in 60i frame rate (among others) and outputs in AVCHD. I never have any problem importing into either iMovie or FCPX. I was under the impression that both iMovie and FCPX convert on the fly to .mov files. In fact, FCPX optimized media is also a .mov file, albeit a ProRes 422 format vs the imported original H.264.: So while I can record and output in different frame rates, neither application has ever skipped a beat.
