Which? has heavily criticised Microsoft over Windows 10 after it received numerous complaints from users.
The consumer watchdog accused Microsoft’s latest OS of being responsible for the loss of data, and Wi-Fi signal along with web cam crashes.
Which? polled over 2,5000 of its members back in June 2016 and found that 12 per cent of them had been forced to restore their systems to an earlier OS after Windows 10 was installed.
Alex Neill, director of campaigns at Which? said: “Once installed, people reported various problems, including printers, Wi-Fi cards and speakers no longer working with their PC.
“There were instances of lost files and email accounts no longer syncing and most significantly, their computer encountering such problems that they had to pay someone to repair it. Many people are having issues with Windows 10, and we believe Microsoft should be doing more to fix the problem.”
A Microsoft spokesperson said: “The Windows 10 upgrade is a choice designed to help people take advantage of the most secure and most productive Windows.
"Customers have distinct options. Should a customer need help with the upgrade experience, we have numerous options including free customer support.”
Which? also found members felt ‘nagged’ by Microsoft to upgrade to the new OS with constant notifications and alerts even after they declined to install the system.
