Apple releases iWork for iOS with real-time collaboration, Swift Playgrounds coding app for iPad

Apple’s updated iWork apps with real-time collaboration features are hitting the iOS App Store now. Apple first demoed these earlier this month at its iPhone 7 event. Updates to Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for the Mac are coming later this month. Apple has also published its Playgrounds app for learning to code in Swift on iOS. Apple TV Remote and iTunes U for iOS also have new versions today.

• Real-time collaboration (feature in beta)
– Edit a document with others at the same time in Pages on Mac, iPad, iPhone, and iCloud.com
– Share your document publicly or with specific people
– See who else is in a document
– See participants’ cursors as they’re editing

• A new format pane takes advantage of the display on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro
• Improved downloading – Pages now downloads documents from iCloud only when you’re ready to work on them
• Open and edit Pages ’05 documents
• Wide color gamut image support
• Enhanced keyboard navigation and additional keyboard shortcuts

Keynote for iOS

What’s New in Version 3.0

• Real-time collaboration (feature in beta)
– Edit a presentation with others at the same time in Keynote on Mac, iPad, iPhone, and iCloud.com
– Share your presentation publicly or with specific people
– See who else is in a presentation
– See participants’ cursors as they’re editing

• Keynote Live lets you present a slideshow that viewers can follow from their Mac, iPad, iPhone, and from iCloud.com
• Highlight with Apple Pencil while presenting on iPad Pro
• A new format pane takes advantage of the display on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro

Swift Playgrounds for iPad

Swift Playgrounds is a revolutionary new app for iPad that makes it fun to learn and experiment with code.
