While Apple has said it's not going to talk about first weekend sales, that hasn't stopped the mobile carriers from talking about iPhone 7 pre-orders.

"iPhone 7 is the biggest pre-order in T-Mobile's history, and that says a lot about our momentum and the excitement customers have for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus!" said John Legere, T-Mobile president and CEO.

Additionally, pre-orders from Friday through Monday were up nearly four fold compared to the next most popular iPhone, and Friday set a single day sales record for any smartphone ever in T-Mobile US history.

The iPhone 7 also broke records for pre-registration at the carrier, beating pre-registrations for both iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6.

And it's not just T-Mobile. Sprint says that since it began accepting pre-orders on September 9, new and existing customers "have been placing orders for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a rate nearly four times greater than this time last year."

So it seems that the removal of the headphone jack hasn't been putting off customers from pulling the trigger on an upgrade.
