The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is already available for PCs, but as far as mobile devices are concerned, Microsoft is still hard at work to get it ready for release.

And according to Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, this work is almost complete, as the Windows team is very close to finalizing the Anniversary Update for mobile devices and releasing it to smartphones around the world.

Still no release date, though

Right now, there’s no information as to when the Anniversary Update could get the green light, but we shouldn’t wait too long until the button is pressed and retail devices start releasing it. Dona says that those who want to get it right now, but at the same time help the company finalize work on the Anniversary Update as soon as possible, should enroll in the Insider program and download build 14393 (which is actually the RTM version that’ll be released to users).

“Just like we did after the release of the Windows 10 November Update - we are starting off by releasing PC builds from our Development Branch first and then start releasing Mobile builds a few weeks after,” Dona explains.

“Right now, the team is laser-focused on preparing to release the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to Mobile devices and we think we’re almost ready. You can help us out by making sure you are running Build 14393.67 (KB3176931) on your phone and sending in feedback on any issues you run into via the Feedback Hub. Our team is determined to make sure we release a high quality build to our customers and your feedback really makes a difference.”

So there you go, Microsoft is “laser-focused” on getting the Anniversary Update for mobile devices ready as fast as possible, and the release should take place very “soon.” In case you’re tired of hearing the “soon” Microsoft trademark over and over again, this is just one of those moments when you have to deal with it and wait until the release actually takes place.
