Microsoft Delivers a Second Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607

Windows 10 version 1607 won’t arrive on customer’s PCs until next week, but Windows Insiders who are already testing the update were treated to a second cumulative update last night.

Well. Nothing says “rapid release” quite like updating an OS release twice before it’s even released to the public. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were updated further, of course.

Here’s what’s new in KB3176927, according to a post to the Windows 10 Feedback Hub. This update increments Windows 10 version 1607 to build 14393.5.

Edge extension improvements. Microsoft has improved the reliability and performance of Microsoft Edge with AdBlock and LastPass extensions enabled. Which means that these extensions should now continue to work after installing other extension updates from the Store.

Battery life issues fixed. Microsoft fixed two battery life issues. The first was an issue causing battery to drain due to runaway CPU processes while a device is idle. And the second issue that caused the proximity sensor to always run on some devices.

Store apps issue fixed. Microsoft fixed an bug that caused Store apps to stop launching due to a licensing issue.

Windows Update issued fixed. Microsoft fixed an issue on systems with Connected Standby that caused delays in the delivery of Windows Updates.

Windows Input Method Editor (IME) fix. Microsoft fixed an issue where the Korean IME would not “have the correct composition” on some custom Text Services Framework 3 [TSF3] edit controls. (Windows 10 for PCs only.)

Search improvements. Microsoft fixed an issue where it was not possible to type text into Search or some Store apps without having to restart the process.

Tablet rotation fix. Microsoft fixed an issue where keyboard input on some Windows tablet devices would not rotate to landscape normally.
