Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 grab new camera drivers for Windows Hello and more

Microsoft is working hard in preparation of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update even on the weekend. We can confirm that the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 are picking up further driver updates following the big July 14 release last week.

It is unclear if these drivers are being pushed to those on Production builds, but we can confirm at least for Release Preview and Fast Rings that these updates should now be available. Here are the drivers that should be coming down from Windows Update:

  • Intel driver update for Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Rear
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel Control Logic
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Front
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft IR Camera Front
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel AVSTream Camera 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel CSI2 Host Controller

If you noticed a theme with those drivers, it is that they all involved the cameras on the Surface. That heavily implies some optimizations around image quality as well as involving Windows Hello for facial recognition.

Microsoft has not refreshed their Surface Update History page yet, but we will add new information as it becomes available.
