Tech Five: Apple shares flat after Tidal report
Shares of Apple are holding steady following a report the tech giant might acquire a streaming music rival.
Let's look at tech stocks to watch Friday:
Apple. The company reportedly started talks to acquire Tidal, the streaming music service owned by rap mogul Jay Z. The move would ramp up the battle between Apple and Spotify, which accused the tech giant of blocking a new version of its iPhone app.
Oracle. A federal jury rewarded HP $3 billion in damages in a lawsuit claiming Oracle backed out of a deal to support HP servers running Itanium chips. Oracle is planning an appeal.
Tesla. The "Autopilot" feature available in models of the electric car is under investigation following a fatal car crash. "Autopilot" allows the driver to cruise on highways without needing to break, speed up or steer.
Facebook. The social network will shut down its news reading app Paper by the end of the month, reports The Verge. The app's design helped pave the way for the use of Instant Articles.
Micron Technology. Shares of the chip maker plunged after the company reported it would cut jobs due to "challenging market conditions," said CEO Mark Durcan.
