Finally: Starbucks App for Windows 10 Shipped to Store, to Launch Soon

Along with Snapchat, Starbucks is of the most eagerly awaited apps on Windows 10 devices, mostly on Windows phones where using the browser isn’t quite the most convenient way to deal with the lack of apps.

And while Starbucks announced a universal app earlier this year, very little has been said about its release date, and the company has always provided us with that “soon” timing that’s more annoying than helpful for users on Windows phones.

But now it looks like the wait might soon be over, as Starbucks has already shipped the app to the store, and the download links could go live for Windows phone users in the coming weeks.

Coming with the Anniversary Update?

Information posted on Twitter by a Starbucks employee reveals that “we shipped to the store today, doing final testing so we can go live in the next few weeks.” Once again, no release date is provided for the Starbucks app, but at least we know that development is almost complete, and if nothing unexpected happens in the meantime, Windows 10 users should get it very soon.

What’s interesting, however, is that the release of the Starbucks app on Windows 10 seems to align with the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which, according to the company itself, is due to land on August 2. It’s not yet clear if this is the plan or not, but seeing the Starbucks app going live on Windows 10 in early August certainly makes sense, especially because it’ll only work on devices running the new operating system and possibly only on Redstone builds.

Furthermore, the release of the Anniversary Update is an important milestone for Windows 10, and Microsoft has made a tradition of announcing new major apps every time such a moment takes place, so this just seems to be the perfect time for the company to take the wraps off the Starbucks apps as well.

Fingers crossed for a launch in the coming weeks now.
