In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through exporting calendar events from your Apple Calendar app to Google Calendar on Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
It can sometimes be difficult to get all your different platforms to play along nicely, especially when they’re all competing against each other to try to be the better one.
Fortunately, when it comes to the Calendars app, there is a way to export your calendar events to Google Calendar so you can still see all of your important upcoming events from your Google account on any of your devices.
Export your Mac’s Calendar to Google Calendar
The easiest way to import your Calendar app events to Google Calendar isn’t from your iOS device but rather from your Mac. To do that, you’ll need to create an ICS file and import it into Google Calendar. Here are the steps to make this happen.
1) Open the Apple Calendar app on your Mac, and from the top menu bar, click File > Export > Export.
2) Next, give the ICS file a name, pick where you want to save it, and then click on the Export button.
3) Now visit Google Calendar in a web browser.
4) Click the cog button from the top right and pick Settings in the drop-down menu.
5) Click Import & export from the left sidebar.
6) Now, click ‘Select file from your computer,’ choose the ICS file you exported in step 2, and hit Open.
7) Choose to import it to one of your desired calendars and click Import.
Export Calendar events without a computer
If you don’t have access to a Mac, the process is a little bit more cumbersome. Nevertheless, we’ll walk you through the steps. But remember that it works only on a per-event basis.
1) Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and go to Calendar > Accounts.
2) Here, if you have already added your Google account, make sure Calendars is enabled for it. If not, tap Gmail and enable the Calendars switch.
However, if you have not added your Gmail account, tap Add Account > Google and sign in with your account details. After signing in, make sure the Calendar switch is left on.
Once you’ve enabled your Google account to access your iOS Calendar as outlined above, you’re ready to move on. You can now transfer any event on your iOS Calendar to your Google Calendar.
3) Open the Apple Calendar app, find the event you want to move to Google Calendar and tap it.
4) Tap the Calendar option and select your Gmail account.
In a short while, this event will show up on the Google Calendar website and app, as shown in the screenshot below.
