Adobe launches free Spark web service, rebrands its iOS storytelling apps

Adobe has been steadily introducing free creative tools that let iPhone and iPad users tell stories through text, photos, and videos, and today that effort is coming to the web with the all-new Adobe Spark. In addition to launching the free web app, Adobe is updating a few of its existing iOS apps with new names as they now serve as companions to the web service.

Just like with Adobe’s storytelling apps for iOS — Voice, Slate, and Post — Adobe Spark is focused on letting anyone create visually rich content with various types of media. Using Adobe’s tools and expertise, Spark users can create professional looking blog posts and websites without knowing much about web design or how to wrangle photos and videos with text.

Here’s how Adobe describes Spark in their blog post:

Maybe you want to create fresh online twists on classic content types like flyers, brochures, or presentations. Or maybe you’re looking to share trending forms of communication like memes, magazine-style blog posts, or explainer videos. Adobe Spark lets you do all that and more from one easy-to-use online dashboard. I know, I know…#mindblown

We’ve made it easy for literally anyone to create three different kinds of content: social media posts and graphics, web stories, and animated videos. All you need is something to say and Adobe magic will take care of the rest with killer animation and beautiful designs to help bring your stories to life.

While Adobe Spark is the free web app, Adobe is renaming three of its storytelling apps for creatives to fit under the Spark umbrella. Specifically, Adobe Voice becomes Adobe Spark Video, Adobe Slate becomes Adobe Spark Page, and Adobe Post becomes Adobe Spark Post. All three apps are now available on both iPhone and iPad for the first time.

Adobe is also partnering with Change.org to “co-create training materials for petitioners and change agents” as the two groups say petitions with videos receive six times more signatures than those without.

The Adobe Spark experience is completely free and doesn’t require a Creative Cloud subscription for access. You can start using Adobe Spark today at spark.adobe.com.
