HP's Chromebook 13 is a cheap, pretty, yet powerful new notebook
NEW YORK -- HP has unveiled its latest mobile incarnation: the Chromebook 13. The ultra-thin and light notebook is slated as an uncompromising, inexpensive, mobile workhorse that comes with a high-resolution display, and a durable shell -- a strong, anodized aluminum chassis -- and a powerful battery that will last more than a full working day.
The Chromebook 13, unveiled at Google's office in New York, becomes the first to land with a 6th-generation Intel Core M processor.
The notebook weighs in at 2.8-pounds, and at 12.9-millimeters thin it's about one-quarter thinner than a MacBook Air.
It includes a USB-C charger port for fast charging and docking. It also comes with a quad-high definition plus (QHD+) display, which to everyone else spits out a pixel-packed 3,200 x 1,800 resolution.
The notebook also comes with 32GB of internal storage, and up to 16GB of memory.
HP's notebook is powered by Google's Chrome OS operating system, which includes its Lucid Sleep feature for silent document and email updates, and multi-layered security, including data encryption and remote enterprise management.
HP's Chromebook 13 lands in at $499, and will be available in April.
