Apple went smaller with its iPhone and iPad Pro today. And no, we're not going to make a joke about size.

The tech titan on Monday unveiled the iPhone SE, a revamped version of its iPhone 5S designed to be the smaller, more affordable option for consumers. It also showed off a new iPad Pro at 9.7 inches, smaller than the original 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the same size as the iPad Air 2.

Are any of these enough to elicit excitement from consumers? The company is certainly fleshing out its product portfolio, but folks aren't snapping up tablets like they used to.

We also touch on Apple's ongoing security fight with the FBI, and tease tomorrow's court hearing in Southern California.

The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by CNET Executive Editor Roger Cheng and CNET Senior Writer Ben Fox Rubin.
