While it may not be as popular as YouTube, Dailymotion can still boast about being one of the largest video platforms in the world, enabling its millions of global users to watch and share millions of videos.

And now, it has started allowing users of its official iOS app to record and upload videos right from their iPhones and iPads.

Record and upload videos

At long last, Dailymotion for iOS, which was released back in December 2009, now offers native video recording and uploading capabilities (which have long been supported by YouTube for iOS).

Dailymotion capture

In addition to the old Home, Discover, Search and You tabs, Dailymotion for iOS now has an Upload tab that you can tap to start shooting and uploading your videos right from the app and right from your iOS device — no need to use your computer or the separate Dailymotion Caméra app to share your videos on Dailymotion.

With the updated Dailymotion app, you can upload existing videos from your device’s library, or capture new videos for sharing. Either way, you can edit your videos by giving them titles, putting them in their appropriate categories, and setting their visibility before publishing them on Dailymotion.

Sign in with 1Password

Along with support for video recording and uploading, the latest update to Dailymotion adds support for 1Password. As a result, you can now sign in to the Dailymotion app or sign up for a new Dailymotion account using the popular password management app developed by AgileBits.

On the Dailymotion app’s start screen, tap the sign in or sign up button, tap the 1Password icon in the email or password field, and then tap the 1Password extension to have 1Password assist you in logging in or creating a new account.

Of course, 1Password needs to be installed (here’s the download link) and its extension enabled (here’s how) on your device for the integration with Dailymotion (and other compatible apps, for that matter) to work.

Download Dailymotion

As before, Dailymotion for iOS lets you get personalized suggestions and curated content to watch, follow your preferred channels and manage your own channel, search by keyword and browse by category, and favorite and share videos.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 8.0 or later, Dailymotion is available on the App Store for free.

The app’s previous update, which arrived in December, added support for creating Dailymotion accounts right within the app and for split-screen multitasking on iPad.
