Autoblog At NAIAS: Apple CarPlay Wins Tech Of The Year, Tesla Wins Car Of The Year

Autoblog is an online automotive news and information site. The publication recently named Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) the winner of its technology of the year award. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) was also the recipient of the technology of the year car award.

The Autoblog Best of Technology Awards began in 2013, but this year marks the first time ever that the awards have been presented at the Detroit's North American International Auto Show.

Autoblog is the official live webcast partner for the 2016 auto show.

The awards honor "both the best individual technology features in a vehicle along with the vehicle that showcases the most transformative, integrated technologies in the auto world."

Apple CarPlay: Technology Of The Year Award

Apple's CarPlay was the recipient of Autoblog's technology of the year feature.

According to Stephen Rouse, Autoblog's director of product and technology, CarPlay represents "the impact technology is having on our connected lives." He added that that Apple has been successful in enhancing the lives of consumers who use the product.

Tesla Model S P90D: Technology Of The Year Car Award

Tesla's Model S P90D was awarded with the technology of the year car award title.

Adam Morath, Autoblog's executive producer, stated that the vehicle "amazed us" with its self-driving capabilities which "we thought were still years off." Interestingly, Tesla is not participating in the Detroit auto show this year.
