Consultants CH2M and Cisco have made a new strategic relationship to provide urban planning and design alongside smart-technology and programme delivery, with a commission in Shendra-Bidkin in India the first fruit of the partnership.
The two firms will provide integrated services for the 'industrial smart city' being developed along India's Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor. They say they will create "a model smart city from the ground up," working with the corridor's development corporation. As part of the work, CH2M will manage roads and other physical infrastructure whilst Cisco will develop a plan to integrate different systems including traffic management, parking and public safety, to make the city "a transit-orientated and walkable township".
The relationship is designed to provide intelligent transportation, dynamic street lighting, optimised parking, city operations management and real-time urban services, gathering data from multiple agencies with potential applications for homes, businesses, transportation facilities, hospitals, malls and stadiums, the companies said.
