VR gets a boost as AMD ties up with Dell to power Oculus-ready PCs

AMD has announced a collaboration with Oculus and Dell to power Dell’s Oculus ready PCs with AMD Radeon R9 GPUs starting at $999. AMD says these powerful PCs willl deliver immersive Virtual Reality experience.

“It’s an exciting time to be at the heart of all things Virtual Reality. I’m confident that with Dell and Alienware, we can enable a wide audience of PC users with extraordinary VR capabilities powered by AMD Radeon GPUs,” said said Roy Taylor, corporate vice president, Alliances and Content, AMD.

This new partnership is part of AMD’s LiquidVR technology initiative. AMD’s LiquidVR tech enables VR experience with low-latency and will be compatible with plug-and-play VR headsets.

The AMD Radeon R9 graphics processors will be used to deliver stunning gaming performance and also enable spectacular VR experience for consumers. Oculus has announced that consumer edition of its VR headset will launch in first quarter of 2016.
