But don't take it in the pool with you

The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have gained a number of new features over its predecessor, but one that Apple hasn't talked about at all is its attempts — and success — at making the new phone more water resistant. The fine people over at iFixit tore the iPhone 6S open once again and talked to Wired about Apple's new method to protect your phone from liquids.

Unlike most waterproof smartphones, like the Sony Xperia line which are usually sealed with adhesives, Apple has seemingly gone directly to the heart of the issue — the logic board. If the logic board comes into contact with water while in use, your phone is in serious trouble, so Apple decided to make the logic board waterproof, placing a spongy black material around the circuitry.

While the technique — which Apple has a patent for — makes the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus far more resistant to water, it doesn't make it waterproof, which means you should still be careful with your brand new smartphone around any liquids. But it does give you a better chance of saving your iPhone if it does take a dip.

With Apple coming up with new ways to protect iPhones from water, it's seemingly only a matter of time before we have a truly waterproof iPhone. Read the full story over at Wired.
