Mozilla Releases Firefox Public Preview For iOS

Mozilla has just flipped the switch on the first public preview version of Firefox web browser for iOS.

Mozilla first announced Firefox for Apple’s iOS in December last year. It was followed up by a beta release to a select few testers in May this year.

Today’s release marks the first public preview version of Firefox web browser for iOS. However it is currently available to those in New Zealand only. Mozilla plans to roll it out for everyone else on the App Store later this year.

This is what Firefox in its current state looks like on iOS:

The company had this to say about today’s public preview release on its blog:

Our goal is to create a great browsing experience for iOS with Firefox. With this first public preview we will be collecting feedback in one country, before we extend availability to get feedback in a few more countries prior to a full public launch.

The main aim of this release is to collect feedback on the newly introduced Intelligent Search, Firefox Accounts and Visual Tabs features.

Intelligent Search provides suggested search results and the choice of search providers such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, Twitter, Amazon etc while Firefox Accounts feature on the other hand enables you to sync back your browser history, bookmarks, passwords and tabs from desktop browser to iOS device and vice versa.
