The update is now shipped through the store to all PCs

Updates for Windows 10 apps are released quite often these days, as Microsoft is working at full speed on its Windows as a Service strategy, so every time you launch the store, there might be a new version of Redmond's software waiting for you to download.

Today, for example, Redmond has pushed to users a new version of the Photos app, the same app that was updated last week and that is now available exclusively to Windows 10 users.

Photos is a universal app that's available not only on PCs but also on smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile and is part of Microsoft's plans to bring together its platforms and offer a similar experience regardless of the device you are using.

But just as it happened in the last couple of weeks with all Windows 10 system or app updates, the company hasn't provided any release notes, deciding to go instead for a completely quiet approach that only includes shipping the update to users and nothing more.

No change log

Redmond has already explained that change logs will only be provided when major updates are released, so unless new features and interface overhauls are included, do not expect any information on what you're provided with.

Overall, all Windows 10 users are recommended to install the update as soon as possible, so you can download the Windows 10 Photos app manually right now.

On the other hand, if you haven't changed the default Windows 10 configuration, the update might already be there because the store automatically downloads and installs new versions of your software when they are released.

To change this behavior, just fire up the Store, click on your user account picture, open the Settings screen, and in the App updates section, disable the feature that says “Update apps automatically.” Starting that moment, you will only be notified about new updates, but they won't be installed unless you specifically click them.
