Rumor: New display with Force Touch could make 'iPhone 6s' slightly heftier

A leaked display component purportedly destined for Apple's next-generation iPhone has been measured up and comes in heavier and thicker than its counterpart in the iPhone 6, suggesting that the addition of Force Touch might make the "iPhone 6s" bigger than its predecessor.
The part is "slightly thicker" than the iPhone 6 display assembly, despite being glued together rather than using mechanical screws. As noted by MacRumors, the newer component also weighs just under 2 grams more despite lacking a front camera assembly.
The iPhone 6 unit weighs 49.4 grams with camera attached, while the one supposedly destined for the iPhone 6s comes in at 51.2 grams sans camera.
Aside from the construction differences, what appears to be a new-to-the-iPhone chip is seen protruding through the display's rear shielding. Speculation around this chip centers on Force Touch, as the new technology could require a dedicated processor.
Other changes, including a redesigned and integrated home button and Touch ID sensor, remain the same as previous leaks.
The new iPhone is expected to bring an updated A9 processor, along with 2 gigabytes of RAM and a possible 12-megapixel rear camera in addition to Force Touch. Apple is likely to announce its latest lineup on Sept. 9.
