This Small iPhone Charger Offers Up To 128GB Of Additional Storage

This article is more than 8 years old.

PhotoFast has recently announced the MemoriesCable — which serves as a charger and an expandable storage device for your iPhone, iPad and iPod. On one end is a Lightning cable for connecting your iOS device and on the other end is a USB 3.0 plug that goes into a power source such as an adapter, a laptop or a desktop. The MemoriesCable will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options.

You can manage the files backed up to your MemoriesCable device with PhotoFast’s i-FlashDrive ONE iOS app. The i-FlashDrive ONE app is used for backing up, restoring and managing your photos and videos from the Camera Roll. The app is able to play your stored music and videos from the MemoriesCable device. And the app also facilitates the ability to backup your social media content from Instagram, Facebook and Flickr. Your photos and videos stored in the MemoriesCable device can be streamed to larger screens through AirPlay.

In terms of cloud storage integration, the i-FlashDrive ONE app is able to sync with your Dropbox and Google Drive accounts. For simplicity purposes, the i-FlashDrive ONE has a one touch solution for backing up your iOS contacts, calendars and photos. You can restrict access to your content on the MemoriesCable device using the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, Lightning lock, USB lock and a password.

The MemoriesCable device is only 13cm long and weighs about 9.4g -- which means it is portable, but the size makes it difficult to hold your iOS device and charge it at the same time. It is compatible with iPod, iPad and iPhone devices that are charged with Lightning cables running on iOS 7 and higher. You will also need a computer that runs on Mac OS X 8.x, Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8.

The pricing of the MemoriesCable is not yet known. However, TechSpot noticed that the 64GB version was temporarily listed on Amazon for $159.99. I will update this article when the pricing and availability is finalized. Here is a video demo of the MemoriesCable:
