We've all heard the stories about bibles stopping bullets.

But what happens if your top pocket is home to a brand new iPhone rather than the Old Testament?

One gun-loving tech blogger decided to find out what would happen if he blasted a set of mobile phones with a Russian-made Kalashnikov AK-74, a weapon related to the famous AK-47.

"We're testing the true durability of an iPhone," said the trigger happy techie, who blogs under the name EverythingApplePro.

"Can they save your life? I want to know how many iPhones it takes to stop an AK-74 bullet."

He lined up eight iPhones, which included two units of the iPhone 6, three of the iPhone 6 Plus, some older iPhones and a cheap clone.

The gun-wielding host then blasted them with an armour-piercing round at close range, to discover that a bullet can pass through about five iPhones before it is stopped by the sixth.

"It takes six iPhones to save your life if someone shoots at you," the tech blogger concluded.

"This guy [the gun] will obliterate these phones."

To have the best chance of stopping a bullet, the iPhones should be closely packed and worn over the heart, although you might need to have very deep pockets to carry the phones - and pay for them.
