Netherlands-based KUBUS has recently released BIMcollab® BCF Manager for Autodesk Navigworks.

With this new add-on software package for Navisworks, architects can now support both BCF 1.0 spec and BCF 2.0 spec in Autodesk’s primary BIM integration and clash-detection software tool.

KUBUS notes that BIMcollab BCF Manager for Navisworks helps architects visualize issues in BIM modeling tools like Autodesk Revit and Graphisoft ArchiCAD, since the relevant objects and camera-ready position are saved as well.

Issues can be generated directly from the Navisworks clash detection functions and previewed prior to saving and publishing. Add comments, set priorities, milestones and assign team members to found issues. Double-clicking is enough to zoom into the issue.

BIMcollab® is a cloud-based issue management system for BIM (building information modeling), based on buildingSMART’s industry open standard BCF file format. BCF stands for BIM Collaboration Format. BCF was designed to support communication between team members about BIM models without the need of sending the complete model. A snapshot of the issue clearly explains the problem, also to non-BIM users like contractors and other stakeholders, who can use the browser-based version.

01 - BIMcollab BCF Manager or Navisworks adds full BCF 2.0 support to Navisworks for 2.0 round-trip BCF workflows between ArchiCAD and Revit.

KUBUS CEO, Erik Pijnenburg noted, “With this tool we extend Navisworks’ power to find clashes or other issues with OPEN BIM communication to all major BIM authoring tools.”

This newest release of software from KUBUS expands the number of BIM applications linked to BIMcollab® even further, bridging the gap between more and more BIM applications.

BIM Tools Linked Through BIMcollab

Tools that support a direct link to BIMcollab include Revit 2012 – 2015, ArchiCAD 16 – 18, ArchiCAD STAR(T) Edition 2014 – 2015, Solibri Model Checker 9.5, Navisworks 2014 – 2015, simplebim 3 – 4, and MagicCAD for Revit. All of those listed support BCF 2.0 and 1.0.

Vectorworks 2015 supports BCF 2.0 link to BIMcollab. MagicCAD for AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Tekla BIMsight, DDS-CAD MEP, and CADS Planner all support BCF 1.0 link.

BIMcollab® is a cloud based solution. KUBUS also makes BCF Manager for several BIM authoring tools including Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft ArchiCAD, simplebim and others, including a standalone BCF Viewer. The KUBUS BCF Manager add-on for ArchiCAD runs on both Mac OS X and Windows. The standalone BCF Viewer is Windows only.
