Catalin Marin should be walking around the streets of Dubai with a new iPhone – and not the one he dropped from a building 40 stories high.
Not only did Marin’s phone survive, it was rolling video the whole way down. When he got to his phone, he was able to watch it play back.
“I had a bit of a mishap this morning,” he wrote on her Instagram feed to introduce the 15-second video. “Shooting from the 40th floor, my phone decided to go for a ride into the wind. Forty floors down, not a scratch in sight.”
Marin couldn’t have a better Instagram name – momentaryawe. Appropriately, he ended the sentence on the post with a smiley face and hashtags like #ohno and #freefall.
The opening shot is a beautiful foggy view of Dubai. It’s all downhill from there, a fast-moving spiral of white and architectural shapes.
It may be t0o chaotic to include with Apple’s “Shot with an iPhone” campaign, but talk about a testimonial for durability.
Marin does not say which iPhone model he uses or whether the phone landed on something soft. Still, how soft can anything be from that kind of fall
