Waterproof iPhone 5 Case Reviews & Comparisons

Looking to do awesome water things with your iPhone 5? Well, our waterproof iPhone 5 case comparison tool can definitely help! Every case that we’ve listed here has been personally used and tested by us at Mobile Reviews Eh. We’ve taken them into the ocean, put them into dishwashers and even dropped them down stairs. Some of the case can even be taken down to depths of 33 ft!

If you’re looking for an occasionally waterproof iPhone 5 case, we’d recommend that you check out the HitCase Pro and the Catalyst Waterproof. Both of these cases allow you to take your iPhone up to depths of 33ft (HitCase) and 16ft (Catalyst). If you’re looking for a day-to-day case, stay away from the Naztech Vault + due to the poor screen quality and look more closely at the LifeProof Cases and Otterbox Preserver.

We carefully choose our cases but if you feel that there should be case in the list below, let us know and we’ll see about reviewing that case. We have a scoring system that we put all the cases through to ensure that we give you the most consistent review, best iPhone case reviews possible. We’ve got several waterproof iPhone 6 cases that have been reviewed which you can find here.

We’re personally big fans of using our iPhones as underwater camera’s and these waterproof cases will allow us to do that.

At Mobile Reviews Eh!, we base our reviews on real usage. We try to rate all of our iPhone case reviews in the same manner so that when we say case X is better than Y, you can take that to the bank.

Aaron, love your reviews. I am about to make the switch to iPhone and fortunately/unfortunately i research everything ad nauseam. at this point i have narrowed down the cases but also want to be able to utilize external lenses. I will be honeymooning in Europe next year and would love to get the best pics possible. Thus far it seams that the best combo of water/drop protection vs size would be a case that does not have the ability to screw in lenses. Therefore I believe the clothespin style clip on design will be my only option. Given an iPhone 6 with case, will they work effectively and do you have a suggestion?

    Much appreciated,
    Robert

PS, if I’ve hit this idea wrong, let me know!

I don’t think I’ve come across any external lenses that clip onto existing cases. I know Olloclip is making their own lens/case combo but its being kickstarted so I’m not sure when it will be out. I don’t quite understand your comment about the screw on lenses as there are a couple of options that are tough/waterproof that come with screw on lenses(like the HitCase and Optrix).

If you’re looking for the best pictures possible, I’d hold off getting the iPhone until after Apple announces the 6S. Looks like they’re really going to bump up the quality of the camera.

    Aaron,

thanks for all the work done for others here.
What about waterproof fingerprint ready cases for the SE? I know that 5S cases will do but I am missing a clear identification of cases that are fingerprint sensor ready AND waterproof (at least to a standardized degree).

Can you please point out the cases?

The ones that aren’t fingerprint ready are the Optrix XD5, HitCase Pro, Otterbox Preserver and the Fantom Five.
