Apple's mobile payment service is expected to launch in Canada this fall.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Apple Pay will begin its international expansion in the Great White North.

Apple is in negotiations with Canada's six biggest banks, and plans on a November rollout for credit and debit card holders with an iPhone and, soon, an Apple Watch.

According to the Journal, discussions are being held with Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia, Bank of Montreal, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and National Bank of Canada. Together, all six institutions account for more than 90 percent of retail bank accounts, though it's not yet a done deal.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the Journal said that while the banks are willing to participate, they're not happy with Apple's fee proposals, which are reportedly higher than those in the U.S.

Apple declined to comment on the rumors.

Integrated into the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones, Apple Pay launched in September, promising a simple way to make purchases on the go. Just wave your handset in front of the contactless payment station at participating merchants while holding the home button for Touch ID verification, and you're done.

Launch partners included McDonald's, Whole Foods, Panera, and Disney theme parks, as well as Groupon, Uber, and MLB at Bat. CVS and Rite Aid, however, were quick to pull out of the program, ditching Apple Pay in October for a rival service from MCX, dubbed CurrentC.
