Report: In-Store Apple Watch Supply Will Be Limited

If you're expecting to just stroll up to the Apple Store on April 24 and pick up an Apple Watch, good luck!

Apple Watch

In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, the Apple Watch will reportedly be in very limited supply on launch day.

As 9to5Mac reports, your best bet for getting an Apple Watch on launch day is to pre-order one. That might sound a bit like Apple's sources are trying to push a pre-order agenda, but it also mirrors the exact setup that frequently happens when Apple releases a hot new device. Quantities of the one version of the device that everybody wants will go quickly.

The slight difference, in this case, is that some Apple retail sources are reporting that they're being instructed by their Apple overlords to treat the Apple Watch launch as if there will be none available for walk-in purchasers whatsoever 9to5Mac said. That's a bit more restricted than what you might find at a typical iPhone launch, for example, which at least has some inventory available for those who don't mind waiting forever in line for a new smartphone—overnight, in some cases.

If you just can't make up your mind whether you should plunk down in advance for a new Apple Watch, you could always make a (15-minute) appointment with your favorite Apple Retail store to check it out. Demonstration versions of the smartwatches will hit the stores on April 10.

If you enjoy the experience, you can reserve yourself an Apple Watch that same day. The smartwatch will launch on April 24.
