With just three days to go before Apple's big media event, new details have leaked out about Cupertino's highly-anticipated watch, indicating that we may be pleasantly surprised with the wearable's battery life.

According to a new report from 9to5Mac, the Apple Watch battery may not be as bad as rumor initially had it. Citing unnamed sources who have handled the watch, the site on Friday reported that Apple has beefed up the device's battery life, and it should now be able to handle "5 hours of fairly heavy application usage." Even better — the wearable shouldn't run out of battery "during a typical day of mixed active and passive use."

Previously, the site reported that the Apple Watch would provide a max of 3.5 hours of app use between charges, or just 2.5 hours if you're constantly checking social media, stock prices, or sports scores.

Meanwhile, on the fitness tracking front, the watch will also reportedly have a feature called Heart Rate Glance, which will let you easily monitor your heart beats per minute.

"After a button is tapped to start measurement, the screen will show the constantly updating BPM reading," the report noted. "Our sources say that the process of reading the heart rate was almost instant and the readings were 'seemingly accurate.'"

The wearable is slated to start shipping next month, but Apple has yet to offer up an exact launch date, or details as to how much the various models will cost. We're expecting to hear all that information at Apple's press event on March 9.

PCMag will be at the event bright and early on Monday to hear what Apple has to announce, so stay tuned for all the details. Until then, check out our Hands On With the Apple Watch from the fall Apple event and the video below.
