Cassandra

The latest update to OS X, Yosemite, arrived in the Mac App Store yesterday and I updated the 13" MacBook Pro I am using yesterday evening, Thai time. I noticed no immediate problems and none of the instability that I had experienced a few weeks ago reappeared. Thus far the wifi has not dropped the signal, which had been particularly galling at the office.

I tend to use QuickLook quite a lot. Yesterday, before the update, I used it in a couple of classes: video, files and even a ZIP file (there is a plug-in). I am able to switch tasks really fast using QuickLook so that I can show students ideas almost as fast as the subject comes up.

Today, while writing, I was looking for an article I had put online a while back, so used Spotlight to bring up a number of possible results. However, when I linked to these HTML files in a Finder window, all that was shown was a blank page.

I tried this with a couple of files; and I also tried other formats such as TXT, GIF, PNG and JPG. I pushed this a little more, trying DOCX, Numbers, Pages and Keynote as well as RTF. In short, whatever QuickLook was designed to display, it did. Except HTML.

I did check with other users who also reported the same blank page as I was experiencing. I hope this is fixed soon as it is incorporated into the workflow of writing new web pages as a way to confirm quickly what I had already written, instead of opening the page in a browser, or accessing the file online.
