This week marks the 13th anniversary of the launch of Apple's iPod, a device which wasn't (and isn't) simply popular, but one which actually changed the way people listen to music.

Although portable cassette players had been popular since the 80s and portable CD players were common in the 90s, when the iPod came along portable music simply wasn't anywhere near as common as it is today.

The clever design and massive storage the iPod contained meant that music was infinitely more portable than ever before.

Sir Johnathan Ive's design went on to become an icon of the modern age. It's impossible to not think of MP3 players and imagine the two concentric wheels of an iPod. Although sales of the device have waned in recent years (in the first quarter of 2014 Apple only sold 6 million iPod Touches, the first quarter of 2013 it sold almost double that at 12.7million) the popularity of the device still reigns supreme. It is one of the few dedicated MP3 players still available in most high street shops and, despite increased competition from smartphones, it is still used as part of a daily routine by millions of fans.

Although almost everyone has probably had an iPod of some sort in their time (hundreds of millions have been sold) how well do you know the world's most popular MP3 player? Do you know your Pods from your Pads and Tunes from your Touch? Test your Apple Knowledge with our iPod Trivia quiz.:
