The original Apple computer model was put together by the tech company's founders, the late Steve Jobs and partner Steve Wozniak, and will go under the hammer later this week.

Experts estimate it could reach a price over over $500,000 (£300,000).

It features a 1Mhz processor, 4KB of memory and cost £400 when it went on sale in 1976.

It was built by the Apple partners in Jobs' garage, and is one of just 200 made.

Cassandra Hattan of auctioneers, Bonhams said: "It's in the best condition of any we've seen, so in the last four years I would say this in the best condition of any that have sold."

It follows the launch of Apple's latest product range, which included the new £1999 iMac and the cheaper, Mac Mini.

Apple's newest products all come pre-loaded with OS X Yosemite, which is free to download and upgrade.

The new operating system boasts a host of new features but will need 2GB of RAM to run, along with 8GB of available storage.
