Apple releases iAd Producer 5 with support for desktop iTunes Radio ads, other enhancements

Apple has today released iAd Producer 5.0, the latest revision to its advertisement development environment. The headline addition for this update is support for iTunes Radio ad creation on desktop iTunes for Mac and Windows. This helps increase the possible reach of iAds to more eyeballs.

In addition, Apple has overhauled the coding aspects of the app (even though Apple amusingly claims you don’t “need any programming”) with code completion, syntax highlighting themes, inline syntax error warnings and more.

In terms of end-user changes, developers can now integrate share sheets and iTunes Store views into their ads. It’s unclear who why you would want to share an ad with your friends, but the option is now their for advertisers to implement. The update also adds options to create the new ad sizes supported in iOS 8.

iAd Producer makes it easy for you to design and assemble rich interactive content without any programming.

This release contains a number of enhancements and fixes, including:

• Support for creating iTunes Radio ads for Mac and Windows.
• Code completion support for the built-in code editor.
• Inline errors and warnings for JavaScript and CSS
• Ability to choose between four code themes
• Support for full screen and medium banners on iPhone
• In-ad support for displaying iTunes Store pages
• Share Sheet and Share Extension integration.
• Ability to show a web view when a banner is tapped.
• Simplified and streamlined preferences.
• Other bug fixes and improvements.

iAd Producer is a free download from Apple.com.
