Hackers Now Investigating iOS 7 Gold Master For Potential Jailbreak Exploits

September 11, 2013
Following the conclusion of its iPhone media event, Apple released the Gold Master (GM) prerelease version of iOS 7 to registered iOS developers. As such, it has been confirmed that the hunt is now on for potential jailbreak exploits in this final developer version of Apple's forthcoming mobile operating system. Those doing the hunting are evad3rs: a team of iOS hackers responsible for the iOS 6 "evasi0n" jailbreak last year. Team member @planetbeing confirmed the news in a couple of Twitter updates: The news came not long after a jailbreak solution for iOS 6.1.4 was said to have been discovered. Do remember, however, that Apple's iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are a different matter: the former handset's 64-bit Apple A7 processor will likely render it a difficult iDevice to jailbreak. As a result, it could be that we see an iOS 7-compatible jailbreak solution launch for pre-A7 iDevices in the coming months, with an iPhone 5s-compatible solution following later. We'll keep you updated with further information as we receive it.
