Taking a little while to get going, Gold Diggers is a fun if slow building Endless Digger.

Gold Diggers is a quite fun Endless Digging game, but expect to be playing for quite a while to reap the benefits from the many upgrades.

The idea is a simple one: players control a Gigantic Superlicious Steam-Punk Digging Tram in order to seek out plenty of gold. Ok, so the name isn't particularly simple but everything else is. With the Tram automatically working its way downwards, it's up to the player to control the direction it takes. This is done through a virtual wheel placed at the bottom of the screen which can be moved to the left or right to direct the tram. It's quite intuitive and makes it relatively simple to take some tight turns, avoiding the many obstacles.

Those obstacles are primarily flame based. Pillars of fire get in the way, either by being huge or by rotating around a central point. Alongside that are plenty of rock faces that must be dodged at all costs. Another challenge comes from an occasional boss creature that must be avoided, and lava trails that can't be traveled across for long distances. It's a pretty busy underground world so it's fortuitous that players have up to three lives in the form of carts on the trams, enabling them to make the odd mistake. It's possible to pick up a machine gun, too, enabling the player to fight back somewhat.

Collecting up gold along the way eventually leads to the acquisition of upgrades, but it's a pretty slow process. While there are also challenges to help along the way they're not always the simplest, meaning it can take a while to accrue a lot of gold. Given the upgrades are quite expensive, players won't get to see the full wealth of them for a while to come. Unless, of course, they get lured into an in-app purchase or two.

It's unfortunate that Gold Diggers feels a little unbalanced for those keen to avoid purchases, as it is pretty fun. Without the steady trickle of satisfaction that comes from regularly achieving something new, some might find themselves forgetting about Gold Diggers, even despite the entertaining early moments.
