Source claims that Microsoft is very close to announcing 8.1 RTM

As you most likely heard by now, Microsoft has promised to send Windows 8.1 to RTM this month, so everybody expects an official announcement these days.

But a report published by Win8China (translation needed) claims that the recent redesign of the “web-based” Windows Store is actually a sign that the launch of 8.1 RTM is just around the corner, as Microsoft wants to make the online listings look just like the new Store.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is keeping everything secret right now and there's no word on the launch date of Windows 8.1 RTM.

General availability is believed to be prepared in the coming weeks as well, even though sources have previously indicated that an October release is more likely.

As always, take all of these with a pinch of salt, as they're all rumors and, as you know, Microsoft doesn't wish to comment on future projects.
