Being able to consult a map on your phone is really handy (at least, it was). The big caveat of the feature, however, is the need for some form of internet connection for it to actually work. Hence the usefulness of an app like Offline+Maps.
Users can save an unlimited amount of maps from multiple map providers, as well as add their own, and peruse them at their leisure at any time. Granted they need to have a connection to download the maps in the first place, but once that's finished they can navigate and add pins even without an online connection.
So as long as you plan ahead you should be all set for any out-of-zone vacations!
