Topping tech headlines on Monday was the second beta of iOS 7, which is now available to developers.

Beta 2 includes a sneak peek at the updated operating system on the iPad; the first beta was only available on the iPhone and iPod touch. According to those who poked around, the update includes the return of Voice Memo, the option to select a male voice for Siri, an overhauled Reminders app, and a variety of other small tweaks.

Meanwhile, Snapchat announced the release of SnapKidz — the G-rated version of the popular photo-sharing app Snapchat. The new feature automatically pushes anyone 13 years and younger into a kid-sized version of the application, which allows pre-teens to take photos, add captions and drawings, and save images, but restricts the ability to send and receive pictures. This update aims to keep inappropriate content out of the hands of youngsters, and to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

In other news, Leap Motion ($129.03 at Amazon) is rolling out the latest version of its developer software in hopes of identifying any last-minute glitches before the 3D motion controller's July 22 debut. "Over the next several weeks, our beta users will be testing Mac and PC operating system interactions, and Airspace, our app discovery platform," Leap said.
