Siri Eyes Free comes to entry-level cars in Europe: the Opel Adam

If we needed any evidence that Siri Eyes Free is likely to become either standard fitment or a low-cost option in a lot of new cars within a year or so, Opel has announced that it is now available as a €300 ($394) option on the Opel Adam, an entry-level car whose pricing starts at just €11,500 ($15,100).

Opels are made by General Motors, and many are rebranded Chevys, so there is likely crossover here with the Chevy Spark which saw Siri Eyes Free added to the Sonic and Spark this year …

To start sessions with Siri in Eyes Free mode, ADAM owners simply connect their Apple iOS device with the IntelliLink infotainment system via Bluetooth, pair with the system, and use the steering wheel voice activation button. Siri Eyes Free can be activated while other apps such as BringGo continue running in the background. Music or nav directions are automatically muted during this time.

The Adam is a compact urban car with engine sizes starting from 1.2L (70hp), designed to compete with the Fiat 500 and Mini.

Existing owners who opted for Opel’s IntelliLink infotainment system before Siri Eyes Free was added can get a free software upgrade to enable it.
