MacBook Pro with Retina Display Beats Chromebook, Windows 8 Battery Life

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display has been found to have the best battery life out of most OS X, Windows 8 and Chrome OS-based laptops on the market. A UK publication tested a series of these laptops for battery life statistics. The four laptops include the 13-Inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, Acer Aspire M5-581T, Samsung Series 3 Chromebook and the Advent Monza T200.

The MacBook Pro with Retina display scored 388 minutes of battery life while browsing the web. In close second was the Acer Aspire M5-581T at 358 minutes. The Chromebook Series 3 and Monza T200 scored 224 minutes and a laughable 125 minutes, respectively.

It’s worth noting that these four computers have very different specs and purposes. The Chromebook Series 3 is meant to be a very low-end web browsing computer with a price tag of $249. The Acer Aspire M5-581T has a much larger screen that measures in at 15.6 inches and also features a significantly lower price than the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. Finally, the Monza T200 and M5-581T both offer spinning hard disks while the Chromebook and MacBook Pro are only offered with flash storage.

I guess we can finally do away with the good ol’ Retina display killing battery myth.
