Oracle Capital Group launches London legal brokerage

A new project to protect vulnerable foreign clients from legal hawks has been established by multi-family office Oracle Capital Group in a joint venture with Australian lawyer Dr Yuri Rapoport, creating the first legal brokerage service in London.

Legal aid is under further threat from the new Conservative government

According to a statement from Oracle Capital Group, the new venture - named Oracle Legal Case Management - will ‘manage clients’ legal requirements and get the best out of their lawyers’.

Considerable wealth

Based in London, Oracle LCM is initially offering its services to private clients from Eastern Europe.
Dr Rapoport, executive director of Oracle LCM, is the founding father of legal brokerage services having established the first firm of its type in Australia more than 15 years ago.
‘Some lawyers take on cases in areas where their experience is lacking, making up for their shortcomings in long, billable research sessions,’ commented Dr Rapoport. ‘The large numbers of Eastern European immigrants, who bring with them considerable wealth but a slim understanding of the English language and legal system, are particularly vulnerable and law firms, especially in London, are increasingly targeting them.

'Disconnect'

‘In short, Oracle LCM provides lawyers to manage the lawyers. We have launched the initiative in London and Moscow with a view to shortly roll out our offer in other key markets.’
Speechly Bircham partner Ashley King-Christopher added: ‘The disconnect between reality and expectation can be famously wide in legal services, particularly when dealing with clients from overseas who are unfamiliar with the English legal system. A professional intermediary who can smooth that path is very welcome. Anything that promotes a raising of standards in the legal world must ultimately be a benefit to all of us.’
