Apple Stops Selling The Mac Pro Through European Online Stores

Apple has stopped selling the Mac Pro through its European online stores ahead of the machine’s discontinuation throughout the EU on March 1. Although the high-end desktop still appears on Apple’s website, it’s listed as “currently unavailable,” and customers are unable to order it. Some models are still available in the refurbished section, however.

Apple will stop selling the Mac Pro in Europe on March 1, when new legislation is introduced that the machine doesn’t comply with. Rather than making modifications so that it does comply with the new rules, Apple has decided to just discontinue it completely.

Earlier this month, the Cupertino company announced it would not be selling the device beyond this date, and that it will no longer supply authorized resellers with new stock after February 18. Stores can continue to sell the desktop until their stock is gone, but they will not be able to obtain more stock.

It’s unclear why the Mac Pro has been pulled from Apple’s online store early, however — given that the new regulations are still two weeks away. It could be due to Apple’s 14-day return policy, or it could be that the company has decided to sell any remaining stock through physical stores only.

I’ve contacted my local Apple store here in the U.K, and they’ve confirmed that are still selling the machine today. The machine is also available from the refurbished section of Apple’s online store, but choice is very limited.
