Harman Kardon's Sound Sticks speakers are a bit of a cult item in design circles. Why? There are a couple reasons: they've been permanently enshrined at the Museum of Modern Art, Apple design wunderkind Jony Ive designed them, and, well, just look at those speakers. The curvaceous clear body leaves nothing to the imagination, down to the visible tweeters and subwoofer. Originally these speakers were designed to complement the translucent iMac G4 Cube, but since then these speakers have taken a life of their own.
Harman Kardon's clearing a whole bunch of refurbished Sound Sticks III over on Ebay for $100. That's $60 less than a new one everywhere else. That's the lowest price we've ever seen on this specific model — even previous models, like the Soundsticks II, don't come down to $100 often — and it's a great deal to get a little bit of MoMA-approved beauty in your life. A Brief History Of Kindle Fire HD 8.9 Sales
November 15, 2012: The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is released at a list price of $300 for the 16GB model with special offers.
November 21, 2012: Kyle Wagner reviews the Kindle Fire HD 8.9, concluding: "If you're specifically looking for something to read comic books or magazines, and that's more or less it, then holy crap, this is an amazing deal and you should get one immediately. All three of you." Still $300.
December 10, 2012: Amazon cuts the price to $250 for a limited time.
December 12, 2012: The previous offer expired, but if you were a mom or said you were one on the internet, you had another chance to scoop one up for $250 again.
December 19, 2012 - February 3, 2013: No Kindle Fire HD discounts.
Febuary 4, 2013: Amazon's running a promotion offer for 8.9" Kindle Fires either because they're good Valentines Day gifts, or because they're not selling well enough. Through February 9th, they're down to $269 for the entry-level 16GB model, and the 16GB model with 4G is $449 with the code FIRELOVE. That's not the best price we've ever seen (obviously), and it's up to you to decide whether 10% is a good enough discount to get you to pull the trigger, but there's a chance we won't see another discount like this for a few months.
