This iWatch Concept Features Seamless Linking To iPhone, Is Perfect In Every Way [IMAGES]

It’s hard to ignore the increasing wave of iWatch concept ideas. It’s almost as if the community is not-so-subtly hinting at something, and one designer operating under the Twitter handle @ipavel has come through with one of the best we’ve seen yet. It combines cutting-edge finesse with a logical, innovative set of features to back it up, and we’ve got all the details after the break!

Carrying the cheesy (yet oh-so Apple) tagline of "it’s time!", the initial reaction when met with this particular iWatch concept, is that it borrows quite a few features from a product line we perhaps would never have expected it to – the iMac. It looks almost as though the revered desktop has been chopped vertically into thirds, with the middle segment being shrunk down and fitted with a wrist strap. But does the look work? Well, in short, yes — yes it does.

As with the vast majority of iWatch concepts, this one also plays on the idea of features like FaceTime and Bluetooth, but steps things up a gear with the incorporation of 4G LTE wireless connectivity. Currently, 4G is a feature reserved only for the last two generations of iPad, the iPad mini, and the latest iPhone, but ipavel’s vision of the iWatch also includes the potential for lightning-quick cellular connectivity.

It boasts a plethora of features, such as the ability to tweet and navigate with ease, and while both of the above features would be very useful to have in a watch, I believe the 16:9 display is just too small for watching video clips, as the concept suggests.

Still, we wish this was real, and if you heed the murmurings of some analysts and commentators, the Cupertino company may be planning such a device in the near future. The previous generation iPod nano certainly leaned towards a potential watch-based future, but with the latest nano going back to its roots, it remains to be seen whether such an implementation is on Jony Ive’s ‘to-design’ list.

The positive response to smartwatches released by other companies suggests this is an area which Apple is missing a trick, and if it could maintain that celebrated system of design while convincing the market that watches can still be an asset in all-round productivity, who knows what the future may hold?

Though these concept are far away from actually making it onto our wrists, all thanks to the complicated technology needed to make such a gadget, but it’s a good idea to check out the Pebble smartwatch to partially quench you thirst.
