Research firm Gartner today released its preliminary PC sales data for the fourth quarter of 2012, showing Apple’s continued lead ahead of Lenovo and Acer. PC sales declined 2.1% compared with the previous year in the U.S., compared to a 4.9% decline worldwide. Apple maintained its third-place ranking with 12.3% of the U.S. market. HP saw the largest growth at 12.6%. Dell and Acer saw the biggest losses in growth. Market research firm IDC has also released its estimates of PC sales for the quarter. Since 2006, Apple’s market share has increased from 4% to more than 12% today.
