The first time we saw HP’s Envy X2 Windows 8 hybrid tablet was back in August of 2012.
Indeed, the device surfaced at least several times during the year – without ever actually being available for purchase. However, the Envy X2 has now been priced and is available at an $850 price point in honor of CES 2013.
Of course, the system isn’t exactly cheap, but you are getting a full-fledged Windows 8 tablet with an 11.6-inch screen and a resolution if 1366 x 768. Meaning, you can run just about any Windows 7 or Windows 8 app.
The tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Clover Trail processor and features 2 GB of RAM paired with 64 GB of storage space. Fortunately, the $850 purchase price also includes a keyboard docking station that allows you to use the machine either as a tablet or notebook.
The tablet offers plenty of connectivity options, including a pair of USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, along with front and rear cameras.
The biggest downside to the hybrid? The rather underwhelming 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Z2760 dual core processor.
