Rockmelt For iOS Lets You Explore The Best Of The Web With Trends, News And Social Information

Considering how much an impact the internet has on our lives and how many hours the majority of us spent browsing through our favorite sites and social networks, it makes perfect sense that we would benefit from a great lightweight mobile browser that packs a punch not only through the deliverance of great online content, but also through our favorite social channels. Thankfully, it would seem that Rockmelt could be that browser for those who have an iOS powered device, with the app promising to allow its users to explore the best of the web from the palm of their hands.

The original Rockmelt vision was to change the way users think about the world wide web, and to make their online experiences a lot more interesting and fun by allowing them to explore parts of the internet which they may not have seen or heard of before. Considering the team’s research, which showed that the only activity which people do more than browse the web is sleep, it suggested that reinvigorating that web search experience was an essential task. The Rockmelt browser and app is the child of that thought process, designed to be mobile, visual, social and extremely personalized to each user.

The first thing users will notice is the aesthetics of the app. Cleanly designed and packed into an elegant user interface, the app is simple to use and easy to navigate without any problems. One of the only UI based problems with the app is that certain parts of it – mainly the initial tutorial – aren’t Retina display ready and look blurry, which is unforgivable, considering it actually requires iOS 6 or above. The app quickly recovers from that little oversight by delivering the best of the web directly to our devices based on specified areas of interest on a per-user level.

Following individual people and specific sites is possible through Rockmelt to ensure that the content we love and appreciate never escapes us, as is the ability to share that content directly to a multitude of social networks directly from the app. Rockmelt also has the ability to learn from user interaction and builds an overview of the user over time to ensure that the perfect content is provided to each person. Rockmelt may not be the definition of a web browser as we already know it, but it does do a fantastic job of allowing us to intelligently browse the web based on our interests, and best of all; it’s free and universal.
