Sprint Continues 4G LTE Rollout in 11 More Cities

Sprint today announced plans to roll out its 4G LTE network to 11 additional cities.

Sprint announced today that it is rolling out its 4G LTE network to 11 more cities and counties, including Harrisburg, Pa., Muncie, Ind., Peabody Mass., and Salina, Kan.

Sprint smartphones customers there can now share photos, download videos, and surf the Web with greater speed and reliability, the carrier said.

Today's expansion pushes the speedy network to Anderson, Muncie, and South Bend/Mishawaka, Ind.; Salina, Ka.; Peabody, Mass.; Harrisburg, Carlisle, and Hershey, Pa.; Hagerstown, Md.; Winchester and Harrisonburg, Va.; Clarke County and Shenandoah County, Va.; Martinsburg, W. Va.; and Jefferson County, W. Va.

"We are pleased to deliver our new 4G LTE network to more Sprint customers," Bob Azzi, Sprint's senior vice president of networks, said in a statement. "Whether someone uses 4G LTE for personal or professional needs, they will find that Sprint's new 4G LTE network is performing extremely well. Customers should find it consistent, reliable, and fast."

Still relatively new, Sprint's 4G LTE network, introduced in July 2013, now offers service in 43 markets, and counting. Earlier this month, the service provider to turn on 4G LTE coverage in nine more cities, including areas in Minnesota, California, Florida, Arkansas, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Texas.

More than just 4G LTE coverage, Sprint's Network Vision program also provides 3G customers with better wireless signal strength, in-building coverage, and fewer dropped or blocked calls, Sprint said.

While Verizon leads the 4G LTE charge in the U.S., Sprint is making great strides, , who tested the new network in June in five locations throughout Atlanta. "If our exclusive test results hold up, [Sprint's] new 4G LTE network will be competitive with AT&T's and Verizon's," Sascha Segan and Alex Colon said at the time.
