New In iOS 6: Set An Alarm And Wake Up To A Song Instead Of Ringtones

September 27, 2012
Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we're here to help. This is iOS Advice. Using an iOS device as an alarm clock can be extremely useful. I prefer using my iPhone as an alarm because it’s always with me and has proven to be dependable, but I don’t enjoy the ringtones available within the Clock app or iTunes. The good news is, the Clock app has an exciting new feature in iOS 6. You now have the ability to wake up to a full song that you already own, which is a lot better than purchasing ringtones. This has been available through third-party apps for quite some time, but it’s finally a native feature and it works great. To set a song as an alarm alert, watch the video or follow the steps below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgpxKNEITvI Step 1: Find the Clock app on your home screen and tap on it. Step 2: Create a new alarm using the plus sign in the top right corner, or change an existing alarm by tapping the “Edit” button. Step 3: Next, tap on the row labeled “Sound.” Here you’ll be able to set an alert for your alarm. Under the “Songs” section, tap on “Pick a song.” Step 4: Choose a song from your music library by navigating through it like you would in the Music app. Once you've selected a song, you’ll be taken back to the previous screen. Lastly, press the “Back” button in the top left corner and then tap on “Save.” The next time that alarm goes off, it will play the song you’ve selected. Now that you’ve learned how to wake up to a song instead of ringtones, if there’s something else you’d like to see on iOS Advice, please let us know.
