Just two weeks after releasing its new helmet-mounted video camera, Seattle-based Contour is getting another shot of good news. The company is announcing today that Apple plans to begin selling the Contour+2, a video camera that shoots 1080p HD video and allows adventure sports nuts to track speed, distance and elevation.

“It is the first time that they’ve ever carried a product like this at all in the category, so it is a pretty big deal,” said Contour CEO Marc Barros. “They love this space, they love the category and they think this is where video is going.”

All Apple stores in U.S. will carry the $399 video camera, which typically used in adventure sports like snowboarding, mountain biking and skydiving. Over time, Barros said the camera will also be distributed in Europe and Asia-Pacific via Apple.

In addition to Apple, the new camera will be available at REI, B&H Photo Video and Pro-Audio and EMS. Contour employs 55 people.
